Apartment Showings this Weekend: The Marina

It seems like everyone has an opinion on the Marina District in San Francisco! To some, the Marina signifies picturesque views of the Golden Gate along Crissy Field, access to the Bay, and a young, friendly vibe. To others, it conjures up stereotypes of bros, boat shoes and blublockers.

Best for: Brunch! Options for bottomless mimosas abound, but so do retail options, so be careful about a Champagne-induced shopping binge.

Not so hot: Commuting to the South Bay would be hard from the Marina, though the never-ending drive down Gough St. or Van Ness Ave. is mitigated for those with access to a company shuttle bus.

Marina-like alternative: Cow Hollow. Venture south a few blocks to discover Cow Hollow’s similar youthful personality.

Open Houses in the Marina this Weekend:

2010 Chestnut St. #202 | Studio | $1,695
Open House: Sat. Jan. 28, 2012 @ Noon

For a cute studio in the heart of it all, check out this one $1,695 at Chestnut and Fillmore. It looks a little small, but at least it’s hardwood and the kitchen is updated. You’re right near Circa and it’s venerable brunch/nightclub, so best for those ready to party all the time.

2935 Van Ness Ave. #1 | One bedroom | $2,100
Open House: Sat. Jan. 28, 2012 @ Noon

This one-bedroom for $2,100 on Van Ness is practically perfect in a lot of ways. Beautiful hardwood, great light, away from street noise, but still in the center of it all. No laundry, though it’s right nearby.

3726 Broderick #26 | One bedroom | $2,500
Open House: Sat. Jan. 28 & Sun. Jan. 29, 2012 @ 10:00 – 11:00am

This “hot property” at Marina and Broderick has a roof deck. That should really be enough for you. It’s on the high side for a one-bedroom at $2,500, but also has hardwood, a working fireplace, and a garbage disposal. It’s on the waterfront, so you can play on Marina Green or Crissy Field all you want, though you’ll be a decent walk from shops and restaurants.
